Deep Stretch/Yin

Slow moving, long holds to open up the body and increase range of motion.  The yin practice aims to make space in the joints so they move smoothly and easily through their entire range of motion.

Gentle Bliss

You’ll start with long warm ups on the floor, working up to standing poses with a modified, gentle flow and then a long cool down and stretch. This class is dedicated to structural and energetic integration, including alignment, breathing, mind and spirit.

Gentle & Therapeutics

Breathing, gentle stretching and movement for beginners or anyone seeking to heal through Yoga. This class is tailored to the health needs of the individual to promote overall mind-body wellness as well as assisting individuals facing health challenges at any level, manage their condition, reduce symptoms, restore balance and increase vitality.


A physical, mental and spiritual technology designed to unite our ego based selves with our infinite higher consciousness.  Each class utilizes postures, breath work, mantra and meditation.

Kundalini Meditation and Pranyama

This class explores the meditative aspect of Kundalini.  Each set has three components: breathwork, mantra and meditation. Kundalini meditation is different from any other kind you may have tried before and is suitable for ALL levels of experience. Experience the peace you’ve been craving!

Level 1 Basic Flow

Learn the basics.  Perfect for brand new students to create a strong foundation for the practice.  Attention to alignment and basic Pranayama (breath) work will be taught here.

Level 1 / 2 Flow

Poses begin to be linked with the breath in these Vinyasa flow classes. The foundation for more advanced poses will be taught here as well as building strength and stamina. Advanced poses may be given and modifications for the less experienced student. Familiarity with basic poses helpful.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal yoga helps prepare the body and the mind for labor and delivery.  The body awareness we cultivate with the practice will help tune you in to the new sensations in your body, and the breath will help guide you through the challenges of labor and delivery.  Yoga will build your strength and stamina along with a deeper connection to baby.

Restorative + Reiki

This class was developed in an effort to make the benefits of Restorative Yoga and Reiki healing accessible to everyone! Restorative Yoga cultivates heightened body awareness while soothing the nervous system, allowing the body and mind to slow down. Restorative Yoga balances our fast paced lifestyles and has an enormous capacity to heal physical and mental symptoms that are stress related.This practice creates an excellent environment for opening up to the healing powers of Reiki.

As a healing method, Reiki uses an energy transmittal system in which the Reiki practitioner draws energy from the universe and then transfers this energy through the hands to the self or another. Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual blocks are dissolved with Reiki, bringing people greater health and overall well-being. Reiki works with the body’s innate wisdom to facilitate healing where and how it is needed.

This class may include pranayama, guided meditation, yoga nidra, the use of essential oils and other healing modalities. We seek to create a safe space and peaceful experience for each student to heal and rejuvenate as we teach from a place of compassion and support.

Radio Flow

This is an enlivening yoga class with an upbeat playlist that will keep your body moving and your heart singing. Students will invigorate the body while learning how to be carried through a challenging practice on the wings of their breath. Some yoga experience helpful.

SmartFlow & Level 2

In SmartFlow we emphasize anatomy and alignment. We utilize long holds to deepen the practice, challenge our minds to stay calm and our bodies to grow stronger, more flexible and stable. Dynamic and creative sequences, advanced poses and inversions will be taught here as well as building strength and stamina. Four months of consistent asana practice in a lower level class before entering these classes preferred.

Soulful Soothing Yoga

This is a gentle, safe place to learn about Yoga, listen to your body, begin to heal. Yoga is about our body, mind, Spirit connection. This class is accessible to everyone – even if you’ve never done Yoga before. Unearth your inner landscape!

      Welcome to the neighborhood! All the classes are drop in so feel free to come on in :) I’m on Balboa in the Fresh n Easy shopping center. The sign says “karate” (I share the space) and its just a few doors down from Starbucks.

    • Hi Rebecca! Yay that you’re interested in starting yoga! All you need to bring is yourself and probably a towel (cuz we get a little sweaty :) I have mats to borrow and all sorts of props. You’ll probably want to get your own mat at some point but come in and give it a try and then you can worry about that. Make sure to wear comfortable and relatively fitted clothes so you are free to move in all sorts of directions. It’s fun – we have a great time so don’t be nervous. I look forward to meeting you!     • We always spend a few minutes at the beginning with breath and meditation but its not a substantial part of the class. Yoga is almost always stretching, so the whole class is stretching but we work pretty hard while we’re doing it. I do teach a Yin class on the last Wednesday of every month, 8:00-9:30 that is easy stretching and meditation throughout the entire class.

  2. Hi, I’m wondering if you offer other classes besides what’s listed. I am a full time employee so I can not make any of the classes currently available.


    • Hi Wendy,
      The schedule does reflect all the classes I teach at Prema. The Tuesday and Thursday morning classes will be moving to an earlier time – 9:00am-10:30am beginning Jan 1, 2014. I also have classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as Monday and Wednesday evenings. I’m guessing you must have a crazy work schedule if you work during all those class times! You could probably use some yoga :) Does the new Tues/Thurs time work for you?

  4. I have been trying to get back into yoga after several years away. Now with my baby off at college, an aching back, and a need to rebuild strength, good posture and stamina I’m determined to get focused on me again. What time and where are your evening classes? Also, are your classes for all ages? I’m in my late 50s and would feel funny if everyone else were kids (20s & 30s) lol.

    • Hi Charlotte, You’re coming to the right place to meet those fitness goals and hopefully find a little stress relief too while you’re at it :) My evening classes are Monday and Wednesday at 8:00pm – except for tonight.     • Hi – I don’t really have an age limit. If your daughter can pay attention and follow along for 75 or 90 minutes she’s welcome to join us!

  7. I was recently hospitalized for colitis and was told I NEED to de-stress. I have been told by many I should try yoga. I have arthritis (severe)in my left hip and some issues with my left shoulder (diagnosis pending). In your opinion, is this something that might work for me? Do you have a beginning beginners class?

    • Hi Katey,

      All the classes are mixed level but I would say Saturday morning is a good option if you want to come and try it out. That class I usually teach as more of a basics class. Is it difficult for you to get up and down from the floor? If it is this class will challenge you. Are you able to bear weight on your left shoulder? We do a fair amount of plank and down dog, which you can always adapt with hands and knees, but you will need to be able to do some weight bearing on your arms. Yoga definitely helps with managing stress but we need to make sure you’re in the proper class. If you think mine might be too much for you I can absolutely recommend a couple of great teachers who teach gentler classes. Let me know!

  8. I am 65, with back and neck problems, and not in great shape. Is the stretching extreme? Would it bother the neck and back issues?

    • Hi Alison, The stretching is not extreme – its really whatever you can do. I’m not sure if it would aggravate anything as I’m not sure what your issues are but I don’t think it would. That said, feel free to give it a try and if it seems like too much I can recommend a couple of other teachers you could try.

    • Hi Jen,
      All the classes are mixed level so you can be a beginner and be fine. I offer lots of modifications.
      If you’re interested in inversions, I’m teaching an inversion workshop on February 16, 2-4pm and we will go over all the basics and then some of an inversion practice – headstands, handstands, shoulderstand and the forearm balance. It’s a really great introduction to an inversion practice. There’s a link on the schedule/workshop page if you’d like to sign up :))

  9. I just read about your studio. I am in Northridge and am ready to get started in Yoga. Have never done it. can I come in and try? what do I need and what should I bring?

    • Hi Laney,
      Sure come in and give it a try! If you have a mat, bring that and maybe a towel in case you get sweaty. If you don’t have one, no worries, I have yoga mats to lend. Wear comfortable clothes you can move around in. You don’t need to reserve a space, all the classes are walk in. Just be ready to have fun – it’s yoga! :))

    I’ve been wanting to try yoga for a awhile. I have a chronic migraine. Will this be a good program for me to try?

    Im interested in purchasing the groupon special for my sister and myself, I do see it says in the fine print “limit 1 per visit” does this mean we would not be able to attend the classes together?

      That part of the fine print is confusing. Its really just one per person so you can your sister could definitely come together assuming you are buying one for you and one for your sister. All the classes are drop in so come on in anytime :)

    I am in menopause and very sensitive to heat and temperature. Does your facility have air conditioning?

      Yes we have air conditioning. I keep the room at around 75 degrees.

  14. Where are you actually located? I’m thinking of purchasing the special on Groupon. I’m interested in the Monday and Wednesday night classes. I walk almost 4 miles a night, but looking for other ways to stay fit.

      I’m at 16901 San Fernando mission blvd (the sign says tang soo do – I share the space) which is just a half block east of balboa, near where the knollwood pharmacy is now. Yoga is a great addition to walking. Come on in and give it a try! :)

    • Hi Mic,
      Sure, we’d just need to make some modifications to accommodate your pregnancy. It’s also helpful if you’ve done yoga before, although it’s not required. Come on in and give it a try. Make sure you tell me you’re pregnant – I never assume :)

  17. Hello, I noticed your classes are usually 1:30 hrs. Is any way you will have a set class from Monday through Friday from 9:00-10:30 am ? I need some time after I drop my child to school. If you have a set schedule I think I could come everyday.

      Currently I have classes Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:00 but once I open the studio I will have a class everyday at 9:00am. I’m super excited too! Granada Hills needs a yoga studio :)

    I just checked out the schedule and noticed that you offer a bring your kid to yoga class. I’m wondering what the requirement for the class is. If you could let me know, that would be awesome!

    • Hi Yolanda,

      There aren’t really any requirements. The class is aimed at the adults but the kids are more than welcome to follow along or just hang out. The little kids like to play with the blocks :) We’ve had ages of kids from babies to eight years old. I guess the one requirement would be to be able to deal with a moderate amount of chaos while you’re doing yoga lol. It’s fun. And you’ll definitely get some yoga in! Let me know if you have any other questions.

  20. Hi – I have never done yoga before and want to start. Would the Basics plus Smartflow class on Saturday morning be something that could be appropriate for me to try? Thanks, Veera.

    • Hi Veera,
      It is a level one class but just know we work hard in there. so expect pretty basic poses with lots of alignment but a challenge to build some strength. If you’re worried it might be too hard, the 12:30 class with Karen is great.

  21. Hi there! I am interested in trying out yoga to help reduce stress and calm the mind. I saw your groupon, so I thought I could try and see if I can even do yoga. I’m 26, fit, and have decent core strength, but I am not flexible at all! My hamstrings are super tight. What classes do you recommended I start with at first?

    • Hi Adrianna,
      Yoga would be great for you! Range of motion – flexibility – is one of the big things we work on with people. I would say start with level one just to get a feel for what it’s about, but then if you feel comfortable you can experiment with mixed level or even level two if you’re feeling froggy 😉

      The Sunday kundalini class is an $8 class – there’s not an extra or additional charge, it’s just $8. And it’s a fine class for beginners – Sunday class is mainly meditation and breathwork. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

  22. Hello good evening I am a beginner and was wondering what the difference was between classes (level 1, soulful soothing, candlelight flow, gentle bliss and restorative)I wanted to start taking yoga to calm myself. I tend to get a lot of anxiety and stress. Thank you and have a great day.

    • There are class descriptions if you scroll down on the schedule page, but if you’re a beginner I’d say any of the classes you mentioned would be fine. If you’re looking to calm down, relax and getting a lot of moving and stretching isn’t your concern, soulful soothing yoga, the restorative classes and the kundalini classes would work. The level one classes will have you moving around more, as will the gentle bliss classes. They’re still relaxing, you’ll just move more.

  23. Hello, I am interested in the Yoga and Hiking at O’Melveny and I have questions in regards to where and how it is set up? Where would we meet and how will the payment work? Also are there any materials needed for the class? Thank you.

    • Hi Justin,
      Everyone meets on the “bridge” between the parking lot and the park at 8:30am. The class is donation based so you’ll donate whatever amount you feel comfortable with to the teacher :)
      Bring a yoga mat and a towel to put underneath it. That’s pretty much it unless you have some other props you know you like to use. Have fun!

    • We have a new student special – two weeks of unlimited classes for $29. otherwise a single class is $18. All the classes are drop in so all you need to do is pick a class and come on in to the studio :)

    I am very interested in your classes, I would like to purchase the new student package… but my question is when do the 14days begin? I have long work days and want to take advantage of all the classes possible so I want to know if I should get the deal when I’m ready to attend or if I can pay now and the 14day count would start on the first day of attendance.. thank you in advanced

      You can purchase the 14 day unlimited whenever you’re ready. The expiration date will adjust to coordinate with the date of the first class you take using it :) we’ll see you soon!

    It’s been soooo long since I did any workout and wanted to get back in shape and saw your studio through Groupon and decided to give it a try. Which beginner class do you recommend?

    • Hi! for beginners I’d recommend any of the Level 1 classes, also anything that has gentle or soothing or restorative in the name would be a super safe place for a beginner. the restorative classes are more relaxing than work though so keep that in mind.

  27. Hello,
    My mother had a stroke in April 2017 and has completed Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. She can walk now but rather slowly. She is interested in trying yoga classes for the very first time. Is the Gentle and Therapeutics class appropriate for her?

    • Yes, that would definitely be the best place for her to start – the Monday and Wednesday 12:30pm classes. Ann is amazing :)
